MOONSTRUCK CHOCOLATE-ENROBED DRAGSTER HITS THE TRACK
Homegrown Chocolate Company Sponsors Local Drag Racer Sadie Floyd

Portland, Ore. – (March 21, 2012) – Moonstruck Chocolate Co., a Portland, Ore., based artisan chocolatier known for enrobing fresh, decadent flavors in fine chocolate, is coating a new vehicle: a dragster. As the primary sponsor of Sadie Floyd Racing for the 2012 season, Moonstruck Chocolate and its signature crescent- moon logo against a midnight-blue sky will be wrapped around Floyd’s dragster. The car will be unveiled at Moonstruck Chocolate Café at Beaverton Town Square [11705 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy., Beaverton, Oregon 97005] on Wednesday, April 4th from 3 – 6pm.

“This is a really fun opportunity for Moonstruck Chocolate. We have a passion for creating unique and indulgent chocolates and sharing them with the world, but we also have a secret passion for racing,” says Sally Bany, co-owner of Moonstruck. “Sadie struck us as such a remarkable and inspirational young woman, who has overcome cancer and reaches out to her community. It’s an honor to be part of her crew this year.”

Floyd will be competing in the top dragster class all across the National Hot Rod Association’s Northwest Division and select Pacific Division races. The 2012 season takes her – and her Moonstruck Chocolate-powered car – to racetracks around the western U.S. and Canada. She will debut the new look of her dragster at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Div. 7 Divisional, held March 23-25.

Floyd grew up in a racing family and was introduced to the sport of drag racing at the age of 10. She got behind the wheel of a junior dragster the following year, which also marked five years since being declared cancer free; at the age of two, she had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Now, as a 22-year-old college student, Floyd uses her racing career as an opportunity to build awareness of blood cancers and children’s cancer, and she partners with various cancer organizations and programs in her mission.
